The Philippines welcomed on Thursday an additional 1,017,900 doses of government-procured Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
According to the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19, the latest batch of vaccine doses landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 past 8 p.m.
Assistant Secretary Wilben Mayor, head of the National Task Force Against COVID-19’s strategic communications on current operations, said more than 139 million doses of vaccines arrived in the country.
“Sa ngayon po ang mga fully vaccinated na natin is almost 34.5 million at naka-first dose po eh 43.8 million individuals,” he said.
(As of now, almost 34.5 million are now fully vaccinated individuals, while 43.8 million individuals received their first dose.)
This Thursday afternoon, the country has also received a total of 3,191,040 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine donated by the United Kingdom (UK) through the COVAX facility.
Mayor said an additional 288,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the UK government and 201,240 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine would arrive on Friday.
He also encouraged the public to get inoculated in three day national vaccination days.
President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday declared November 29, 30, and December 1 as Bayanihan, Bakunahan National COVID-19 Vaccination Days.
The government is seeking to vaccinate 15 million people during the three-day period.
