Customs arrests claimant of 100 ecstasy tablets hidden in documents

The Bureau of Customs-Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group arrested the consignee of a package containing 100 ecstasy tablets in Bulacan.

In a statement, the BOC said the parcel from the Netherlands containing the ecstacy tablets concealed in documents was intercepted at the Central Mail Exchange Center.

The BOC said the shipment was declared as “letter” but upon physical examination it was found to contain ecstasy tablets with an estimated market value of P170,000.

The claimant and seized drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for custodial investigation and inquest for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Drugs Act and RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

Last week, the BOC also arrested a claimant of a package declared as “wedding dress” containing P3.8 million worth of ecstasy tablets in Taytay, Rizal.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
