Former Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Marianito Roque on Saturday withdrew his certificate of candidacy for senator for Eleksyon 2022.
According to a report by Super Radyo dzBB’s Manny Vargas, Roque named incumbent Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III as his substitute under Lakas-CMD party.
Roque calls his withdrawal a “personal decision.”

Sought for comment, DOLE spokesperson Rolly Francia said, “Secretary Bebot Bello has yet to decide whether or not to seek a seat in the Senate. He has until Monday to do so.”
“In the meantime, tuloy lang ang trabaho niya at pangunguna sa pagbibigay ng ayuda sa mga mamamayan sa pamamagitan ng flagship program ng DOLE na TUPAD para sa mga lubhang naapektuhan ng pandemya,” Francia said.
The deadline for withdrawal and substitution for national and local elections aspirants is on November 15, 2021. —KG, GMA News
