Stand for Truth’s ‘In Review’ takes on plight of sectors ahead of Eleksyon 2022

Stand for Truth, GMA News and Public Affairs Digital’s pioneering online newscast, has started “In Review”, a series of segments on the status of the country’s sectors to guide voters’ in choosing the next leaders in Eleksyon 2022.

“In Review” has so far featured the plight of health workers and the urban poor amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Producing stories for Stand for Truth gives us more flexibility on content and execution of reports. As the election season starts, we want to shift our storytelling on more in-depth issues and easy to understand data,” said Rizza Mendiola, executive producer of Stand for Truth.

“Thus, through ‘In Review’, we hope to encourage viewers to be more critical on how the government is addressing the lifelong struggles of various sectors, engage in worthwhile online discussions, and help them decide why it is important to vote in the coming national elections,” she added.

Co-executive producer Bryan Brazil said, “In 2022, Filipinos will have the opportunity to exercise their right to suffrage. But we always have this question on how will our voting citizen choose the next leader of the country.”

“Our Stand for Truth: In Review Series aims to help them understand the issues in our society and see the situation of underrepresented and marginalized sectors. We want to remind as well our future leaders the problems that they need to confront once they get elected,” Brazil said.

“Through our in-depth reports, our audience will be more critical and responsible when casting votes. And they will be reminded that election is important and their vote can change the status quo and improve the lives of everyone,” he added.

Stand for Truth is anchored by Joseph Morong and powered by millennial and Gen-Z reporters who produce weekly in-depth, mobile journalism pieces.

The show also features weekly analysis on global affairs by academic and foreign policy expert Richard Heydarian. -NB, GMA News
