DepEd, COVID-19 task force to speed up vaccination of teachers, school personnel

The Department of Education and the National Task Force Against COVID-19 have agreed on speeding up the vaccination of school teachers and personnel in light of the return of face-to-face classes.

In a press conference on Tuesday, DepEd Director Roger Masapol said that a framework for the vaccination program for school staff has been created.

“Nakipagpulong ang kagawaran sa NTF, yung vaccination task force ng gobyerno, para ma-accelerate yung vaccination ng ating personnel,” he said.

(The Department had a meeting with the NTF to speed up the vaccination of our personnel.)

For the first phase, the vaccination will start in the 59 schools initially approved by the Department of Health for pilot face-to-face classes and nominated schools in the National Capital Region.

It will proceed to the rest of the 638 schools that are nominated by DepEd regional offices for the next phase of the face-to-face classes.

Then, the vaccination program for teachers and personnel will continue in all schools nationwide, according to the framework.

The Deped will have to submit to NTF a list of school staff who have yet to be vaccinated and will coordinate with the LGUs for the possible vaccination sites.

It will also provide manpower support to the local government units during the inoculation activities.

Earlier, the DepEd said it is seeking an institutional approach to the prioritization of teachers in the COVID-19 vaccination program.

The pilot implementation of limited face-to-face classes amid the COVID-19 pandemic will start on November 15.—LDF, GMA News
