Bus operators to receive payouts after technical woes –DOTr exec

Bus operators of the EDSA busway will receive their payouts after the Land Bank of the Philippines resolved technical issues in the money transfer, Transportation Assistant Secretary Mark Pastor said Tuesday.

Pastor said Landbank had an issue in system upgrades but that it later confirmed it is able to send the payouts to the bus operators.

“There was confirmation po from Land Bank na mag-credit na po today, lalo na po yung programa na libreng sakay dito sa EDSA Busway,” said Pastor in an interview on GTV’s Balitanghali.

Pastor was reacting to bus operators’ complaints that the payouts were still unreleased despite the approval of the budget.

In September, President Rodrigo Duterte approved more than P3 billion funds, which covered the unpaid payouts under the government’s service contracting program.

No schedule adjustments

Asked about adjusting the Libreng Sakay program to earlier than 4 a.m., Pastor said they could not change the schedule because of the metropolis-wide curfew hours.

“Hindi puwedeng agahan  [We can’t make it earlier] because we are following the NCR wide curfew which is 12 midnight to 4 a.m.,” he explained.
