Average number of COVID-19 health rule violators decreased during Alert Level 4 -PNP

The average number of COVID-19 safety measure violators accosted since an Alert Level 4 was imposed in Metro Manila last September 16 decreased by 2,700, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said Sunday.

According to Eleazar, the enforcement of the Alert Level 4 was also “generally peaceful” in the metropolis but there were still people who breached lockdown measures.

“Ang average [number ng violators], 10,300 nitong 30 days na nasa Alert Level 4 tayo. Compared sa 26 days ng MECQ, average ay 13,000 naman. Sa unang ECQ na 15 days, 10,000 ang average niya,” he said over Super Radyo dzBB.

From October 16 until October 31, 2021, the national government placed the National Capital Region under Alert Level 3, which allows more establishments to open including cinemas and movie houses.

With this, Eleazar hoped that alert levels will decrease further while granular lockdowns will still be imposed.

He also pointed out that the total count of areas under granular lockdowns was also decreasing.

“Mayroong 82 specific places na under quarantine as of yesterday, within 66 barangays sa eight cities,” Eleazar said.

On Saturday, the country’s total COVID-18 cases reached 2,713,509 with 2,587,881 recoveries and 40,580 deaths. — DVM, GMA News
