PDP-Laban Cusi wing talking with NP, 2 other parties for possible alliance — Matibag

The Cusi wing of the ruling party PDP-Laban said Friday it was in talks with three groups about forging an alliance for the May 2022 general elections.

These include the Nacionalista Party and two other groups which were not identified by PDP-Laban secretary general Melvin Matibag during the Friday News forum.

“Mayroon po kaming pakikipagusap sa mga major political parties because if you will notice ‘yun pong aming mga ineendorsong senador, some of them belonging to other political parties po,” Matibag said.

(We are having talks with major political parties because if you will notice the senatorial aspirants that we have endorsed belong to other political parties)

“Banggitin ko na po, si Secretary Mark Villar kinakausap po natin na baka maaaring magkaroon ng alliance sa Nacionalista tutal siya naman po ay adopted candidate ng PDP,” he added.

The senatorial aspirants backed by President Rodrigo Duterte are former presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo, former Senator Gregorio Honasan II, SAGIP party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta, former Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission chief Greco Belgica, broadcaster Rey Langit, former Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones, actor Robin Padilla, and Villar.

Duterte is the chairman of the PDP-Laban faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.

Matibag said the political parties they are talking with do not have presidential and vice presidential candidates for the upcoming elections. — VBL, GMA News
