Residents in areas under granular lockdown are advised to get their COVID-19 vaccine shot when the restrictive measure is lifted, the Department of the Interior and Local Government said Thursday.
DILG spokesperson Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya told GMA News Online even those with vaccination schedules are not allowed to leave their homes under a granular lockdown.
“Pag sila ay naka-granular lockdown [When they are under granular lockdown], you cannot leave but you will be priority in the vaccination center once lockdown is lifted,” he said.
According to Metro Manila Council chairperson and Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez on Wednesday, one COVID-19 case is enough to impose a lockdown on a house or a condominium floor.
To impose a lockdown on an entire street, Olivarez said, there should be at least two COVID-19 cases.
On Tuesday, DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said NCR will be under Alert Level 4 starting Thursday, September 16, as part of the pilot testing of the implementation of the new five-tier alert system.
Malaya said vaccination against COVID-19 continues under any alert level.
“Vaccination proceeds under Alert 4 or any other alert level,” he said. –KBK, GMA News
