An additional 10 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from the COVAX will be delivered to the Philippines in the coming weeks, an official of the World Health Organization (WHO) said Tuesday.
“We have some good news this morning,” WHO country representative Rabindra Abeyasinghe said at the Laging Handa briefing.
“We expect much larger consignments to come within [the] third and fourth quarter to the Philippines and to many other countries who are recipients of COVAX vaccines.”
Abeyasinghe said the vaccine-sharing platform has already delivered 13 million doses to the country.
Around 16.7 million Filipinos are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, which has killed more than 35,000 people in the country as of September 14, based on government data. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
