Around 75% of the Philippines’ 4,200 intensive care unit beds for COVID-19 patients are occupied, a situation classified as high risk, the Department of Health said Sunday.
Latest data from the DOH also shows that the National Capital Region’s COVID-19 ICU occupancy is at high risk with 75% of the 1,500 beds in use.
Occupancy rate is considered “high risk” if utilization surpasses 70% but less than 85%.
Meanwhile, ward beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide and in NCR are also at high risk.
According to the DOH, 71% of the 15,400 ward beds nationwide are in use while 73% of the 4,200 ward beds in NCR are being utilized.
Further, 57% of the country’s 3,300 mechanical ventilators are in use, while 62% of NCR’s 1,100 ventilators are occupied.
The country has so far recorded 2,080,984 COVID-19 cases including 1,889,312 recoveries, and 34,234 fatalities. —LBG, GMA News
