Cebu Pacific flights for essential travel only as NCR stays under MECQ

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific on Tuesday said it will only operate flights for essential travel after the national government retained the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status in Metro Manila until Sept. 15.

“Cebu Pacific will continue to operate flights for essential travel during this time,” Cebu Pacific management said in a press statement.

Likewise, Cebu Pacific advised passengers who want to voluntarily postpone their domestic flights until September 15 may cancel up to two hours before their scheduled time of departure.

Affected passengers may also avail their preferred option through the Manage Booking portal on the Cebu Pacific website (http://bit.ly/CEBmanageflight).

Here are the following options:

1. Rebook

Rebook for travel within 60 days at no additional cost, following CEB’s permanent removal of change fees. Fare difference waived.

2. Travel Fund

Store the amount in a virtual CEB wallet valid for two (2) years and use this to either book a new flight or pay for add-ons (e.g. baggage allowance, seat selection, etc.)

Also, passengers are advised to update their contact?details?via?bit.ly/CEBUpdateInfo?to receive email notifications?on flight reminders and updates.?

Cebu Pacific also advised passengers that before going to the airport, they are advised to check?the travel requirements, safety protocols,?and frequently asked questions (FAQs)?on the CEB website: bit.ly/CEBFaqs

The airline’s announcement came after presidential spokesman Harry Roque said GCQ over Metro Manila will be deferred, retaining the MECQ status in the region.

Malacañang initially bared that the metropolis will be placed under general community quarantine starting September 8, as granular lockdowns will be imposed on areas as deemed  necessary.  This is aimed at allowing more people to return to their work or find work to uplift the economy.—Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
