7th close contact of Nigerian Omicron variant case tests negative for COVID-19

The seventh close contact of the Nigerian national who was among the first two cases of the Omicron variant in the Philippines tested negative for COVID-19.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire confirmed the development in a message to reporters.

“All 7 contacts are negative. Last passenger of the 7 [was] located and test verified as negative,” she said.

Earlier, the Department of Health had earlier said that two recent arrivals who tested positive for the Omicron variant—a 48-year-old returning overseas Filipino from Japan and the Nigerian, who arrived from Nigeria on November 30 via Oman Air with flight number WY 843—had eight close contacts on the plane in total.

The ROF had one close contact, who tested negative for the virus.

The Nigerian had seven close contacts. Vergeire earlier confirmed that six of them tested negative for COVID-19, while the test results of the seventh was being verified. — BM, GMA News
