Comelec warns aspirants: Election victory for sale a con

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday warned aspirants in Eleksyon 2022 about individuals claiming they can manipulate the results and deliver victory to those willing to pay.

According to Joseph Morong’s report on “24 Oras,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said the individuals would pretend to be service providers and officials of the election body.

“This is a con. They are trying to fool desperate candidates into paying the money in exchange of a promise of a victory,” Jimenez said.

“This is not possible under the automated election system as we have proven time and again since 2019,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Comelec received the complete software that will be used to automate the 2022 polls.

The source codes will be deposited at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, where these will be held in escrow, as mandated under the Automation Law. -Ma. Angelica Garcia/NB, GMA News
