Comelec, IATF set Dec. 1 meeting on mock polls

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Managing of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) will meet on December 1 to discuss preparations for the scheduled mock elections.

“I think on December 1, we’re going to have a meeting with the IATF to discuss the security preparations for the mock election,” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in a press briefing Monday.

“Medyo malaki ‘yung mock election, the mock election will involve real voters and real boards of election inspectors. So there’s a lot of concern about safety and security,” he added.

  • Isabela: two barangays in Cauayan City and two in Cordon.
  • Albay: two in Legaspi City and two in Pioduran

“Ito na yung end-to-end demonstration ng buong proseso at ite-testing din kung gaano ka-accurate, gaano katama at gaano ka-secure yung proseso, yung mga resulta na ipapadala ng bibilangin, ipapadala, ma-receive sa mga different destination,” Elnas explained.

(This is the end-to-end demonstration of the entire process and we will test how accurate and secure the process, and the results that will be transmitted, counted, and received from different destinations.)

According to the presentation shared by Comelec last week, the tentative date of mock elections is set on December 29, 2021.

Before the mock elections, the Comelec will conduct a field test on December 14.

According to a previous statement of Jimenez, the field test will determine if precinct and canvass results can be accomplished electronically from the polling centers and canvassing places to their designated destination.—LDF, GMA News
