Cusi asks PDP Laban party mates to toe the line, remain steadfast amid Eleksyon 2022 bid changes

Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi on Sunday asked his party mates at PDP Laban to “toe the party line and remain steadfast” a day after substitutions and withdrawals were made among those running for national posts in Eleksyon 2022.

“We assure you that nothing has changed, our objective remains the same – VICTORY in the coming National and Local elections,” Cusi said in an open letter to PDP Laban members, a copy of which was provided to media.

“We urge you to toe the party line and remain steadfast,” he added.

Cusi said President Rodrigo Duterte will lead the party’s campaign in Eleksyon 2022.

“President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will personally lead our campaign and is committed to support all our candidates,” he said.

Cusi said a National Council meeting will be held before the year ends.

“We shall campaign hard and we will not rest until our objective is attained,” he added.

On Saturday, Duterte’s daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for vice president under Lakas CMD. She substituted for Lyle Uy who withdrew his COC.

Accompanied by President Duterte, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Saturday withdrew his candidacy for Vice President under PDP-Laban and filed a COC for President under the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS), a political party led by senatorial aspirant Greco Belgica.

This was after Senator Bato dela Rosa withdrew his COC for President.

President Rodrigo Duterte meanwhile said on Saturday that he would run for Vice President in the May 2022 elections. —KG, GMA News
