Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa said he is in favor of either face-to-face or virtual debate.
“Kung kinakailangan po talaga na pagdebatehan ang mga issues e di okay po ako diyan sa debatehan. Face-to-face o anumang gusto nilang mode of debate, okay lang ako,” dela Rosa said.
(If a debate on the issues is needed, then we are okay with the debate. Face-to-face or whatever mode they prefer, I am okay with it.)
Labor leader Leodegario “Ka Leody” de Guzman said he is also looking forward to the debate so the public will get to know the candidates and their advocacies more.
“Tama (‘yong debate) nang sa gayon, malaman ng taong bayan kung ano ang bitbit bitbit na solusyon ng bawat isa sa problemang kinakaharap ng ating mga kababayan,” de Guzman said.
(It is proper to hold a debate, so that the public will know the solutions each of the candidate has for the problems that our compatriots are dealing with.)
Senator Panfilo Lacson, meanwhile, said he is looking forward to the discussion of various issues including the COVID-19 pandemic, corruption, national debt and the West Philippine Sea in the debate.
“Dapat maipresenta namin kung ano ba ‘yong katangian ng bawat isa para harapin ‘yong lahat ng mga problema, issues, concerns ng ating bansa, especially ngayong may pandemic,” he said.
(We should be able to present each candidate’s trait in facing problems, issues, concerns of the country especially during the pandemic.)
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno also said the debate should give an equal opportunity for all presidential candidates.
“‘Yong mabigyan ng equal opportunity ‘yong mga kandidato na makilala ng ating mga kababayan at magandang oportunidad din ito para makilala nila ang mga kandidato at kanilang mga pananaw,” he said.
(Each candidate should be given an opportunity to make themselves known to their compatriots and this (debate) is an opportunity for the public to learn more about the candidate and their views.)
Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said the debate will be his chance to explain his programs and advocacies for the country.
“Ito’y pagkakataon para sa akin na mabanggit ulit at mapaliwanag ang aking programa, pananaw at mensahe sa kampaniyang ito,” he said.
(This is an opportunity for me to mention and explain my program, views, and message in this campaign.)
