The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday reported 4,008 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the nationwide tally to 2,783,896.
The DOH said active cases stood at 47,690.
Of these cases, 74.4% were mild, 5.1% were asymptomatic, 11.27% were moderate, 6.5% were severe, and 2.7% were in critical condition.
Total recoveries climbed by 6,887 to 2,693,162; while a record-high 423 new fatalities pushed the death toll to 43,044.
Data also showed that 49% of 4,100 intensive care unit (ICU) beds for COVID-19 patients nationwide were in use.
Meanwhile, at least 30% of the 4,100 ward beds in the National Capital Region (NCR) were in use.
All laboratories were operational since October 28, while four laboratories were not able to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System, the DOH said.
Fifty-four duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 44 were recoveries.
A total of 373 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region decreased to 5%, the lowest rate since July 14, the OCTA Research group said on Saturday.
Dr. Guido David, an OCTA Research fellow, said that, possibly by next week, the NCR positivity rate would be close to 4%.
In a press briefing, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that the NCR and 10 other areas would be under Alert Level 3 from November 1 to 14, 2021. — DVM, GMA News
