P500 million worth of allegedly smuggled luxury vehicles intercepted in QC, Pampanga

Authorities intercepted P500 million worth of suspected smuggled luxury vehicles in Quezon City’s Xavierville and Pampanga’s San Simon on Thursday.

In a statement, the BOC said it received an intelligence report that smuggled luxury cars were stored in showrooms at the locations, which prompted the bureau to issue a Letter of Authority (LOA) against the said facilities.

Upon receiving the LOA and mission order, joint operation teams of the Bureau of Customs (BOC), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) inspected the showrooms where they discovered luxury cars, including a Lamborghini and Ferrari, and motorcycles such as Ducati.

Several bulletproof sports utility vehicles, customized sports cars, trucks, and boats were also found in the facilities.

“All motor vehicles found were without appropriate importation documents presented,” the BOC said.

If the owner of the vehicles fails to present importation documents within 15 days, the goods would be subject to seizure and forfeiture under Section 224 concerning Section 1113 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA). — DVM, GMA News
