NDRRMC: Maring death toll now at 24, missing at 17

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Tuesday said 17 individuals remain missing in the aftermath of Severe Tropical Storm Maring.

This developed as the NDRRMC confirmed one more casualty, bringing the death toll to 24. The agency said it was also verifying 17 reported deaths.

The NDRRMC said 30 roads and bridges are still not passable since the weather disturbance ravaged several areas in Luzon.

Out of 139 cities and municipalities that experienced power outages, 18 still do not have electricity.

The NDRRMC also recorded 8,210 damaged houses  in Region 1, Region 2, Region 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Region 6, CARAGA, and CAR.

Maring also caused P2,253,484,893 worth of damage in agriculture.

The severe tropical storm caused heavy rainfall in different parts of Luzon last October 7 and left the Philippine jurisdiction five days later. -NB, GMA News
