The occupancy rate of the country’s intensive care unit beds for COVID-19 patients slightly decreased to 75% on Thursday, according to data from the Department of Health (DOH).
Based on the latest bulletin, 75% of the 4,100 ICU beds in the country are occupied while 73% of the 1,400 ICU beds in the National Capital Region are being utilized.
“High risk” means the occupancy rate is more than 70% but less than 85%.
Due to this, ward beds nationwide and in the region are also at high risk.
Data showed that around 72% of the 15,500 ward beds nationwide are being utilized while 73% of the 4,400 ward beds in NCR are in use.
Meanwhile, 58% of the country’s 3,300 mechanical ventilators are in use while 62% of the 1,200 mechanical ventilators in Metro Manila are occupied.
The Philippines earlier reported a new record high of 22,820 cases.
This brings the nationwide tally to 2,161,892 confirmed cases, of which 1,960,487 have recovered and 34,733 have succumbed to the illness. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
