The PDP-Laban faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi has passed a resolution to allow President Rodrigo Duterte, its chairman, to fill in the vacancies in its senatorial lineup.
At a press conference on Wednesday, PDP-Laban executive vice president Karlo Nograles said the faction also gave Duterte and Cusi to enter into alliances with other political parties.
“Isa sa mga resolutions na pinasa natin sa national convention is actually giving authority to President Rodrigo Duterte as our chairman ng PDP-Laban to select and fill in ‘yong mga vacancies kasi may mga vacant slots for the senatorial candidate,” Nograles said.
“The body also gave President Duterte and Secretary Al Cusy to enter into alliances with other parties,” he added.
Earlier, the ruling party nominated Senator Christopher “Bong” Go and Duterte for president and vice president, respectively. Go, however, declined.
Aside from Go and Duterte, PDP-Laban also nominated the following members, which composed of mostly Duterte Cabinet officials:
