P36.8-M worth of suspected shabu seized in Quezon City

Around P36.8 million worth of suspected shabu hidden in teabags were seized during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Santo Cristo, Quezon City on Friday evening.

According to Mai Bermudez’s report on “24 Oras Weekend,” anti-narcotics officers arrested Jason John Alberca, a CCTV installer, during the operation.

A source said the suspect was selling drugs in front of a school when he was arrested by authorities.

The National Capital Region Police Office; the City Drug Enforcement of Lipa, Batangas; and the Quezon City Police District Station 15 conducted the operation.

Authorities added that the suspect was involved in a syndicate that could sell up to five kilos of drugs per day.

Their drugs distribution network covered the National Capital Region, Calabarzon, and Central Luzon. The drug gang was also supposedly connected to a detainee at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.

Meanwhile, the suspect would undergo a drug test and would be brought to Camp Bagong Diwa. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
